Gennaio 2009: il “Triple Nickel” rischiera a Saragozza   
Venerdì 23 gennaio, il 555th Fighter Squadron ha rischierato degli F-16 sulla base di Saragozza per circa tre settimane di addestramento. Due squadriglie di sei Fighting Falcons ciascuna, nella tarda mattinata, più un’altra di due jets, nel primo pomeriggio, sono partite per la Spagna con un volo non-stop. Questo tipo di rischieramento coinvolge su base annuale uomini e donne del “Triple Nickel”. A coordinare l’intero rischieramento è stato il ….. ( prossimamente ) Dopo quasi tre settimane di intenso addestramento in Spagna lo squadrone è rientrato ad Aviano e la prima formazione di sei velivoli, quattro + due, è giunta sulla verticale dell’aeroporto verso metà pomeriggio di giovedì 12, da dove eseguendo la classica manovra di apertura i velivoli hanno iniziato a scendere secondo un ampio circuito che li ha portati prima ad allinearsi sul sentiero di discesa e poi atterrare sulla runway 05 di casa. In testa alla formazione c’era il Flagship del “Triple Nickel” che, dopo aver risalito il rullaggio parallelo alla pista d’atterraggio, per primo si è presentato all’entrata del loop del 555th FS, altrimenti chiamato “Area Charlie”. Ai comandi del velivolo, per l’occasione c’era il Tenente Colonnello Robert P. Winkler, Comandante del 555th Fighter Squadron “Triple Nickel”, che idealmente ha condotto lo squadrone nel viaggio di ritorno a casa. Nel giro di pochi minuti anche gli altri F-16, tra quali spiccava il Flagship del 31st Operation Group, hanno attraversato il cancello della “Area Charlie” e concluso nelle rispettive aree di parcheggio “il rischieramento spagnolo”.

Non è la prima volta. Il rischieramento viene fatto su base annuale

E’ un volo senza scalo e senza rifornimento in volo
·       Quanto dura il volo ?
1 ora e 30 minuti
·       Sono coinvolti sia piloti del 555th FS che del 510th FS ?
Solo piloti del Triple Nickel
·       Che tipo di addestramento viene condotto dal Triple Nickel in Spagna ?
Addestramento con munizionamento aria terra e di combattimento aereo con velivoli di diverso
tipo come EF-18 ed Eurofighters
·       Viene coinvolto anche personale di terra ?
Un totale di 300 persone lavorano in team per la riuscita della missione
·       Che vantaggi ottengono piloti e personale di terra da un rischieramento di questo tipo ?

January 2009: “Triple Nickel” deploys to Zaragoza
Friday, January 23, the 555th Fighter Squadron deployed some F-16s to Zaragoza AB for three weeks of training. Two flights of six Fighting Falcons each departed in the late morning and a third one of two jets followed those in the early afternoon for a no-stop flight to Spain. This kind of deployment over there involves on annual basis women and men of the squadron. Coordinator of the deployment was  ….. ( in the next future ) After almost three weeks of strong training in Spain the squadron has come back home. A first flight of six F-16s, a four-ship formation immediately followed by a second one of two jets,  came over the airport by the middle of the afternoon, Thursday 12. From that position jets began to open the formation and performed the typical maneuver that would lead them on the descending path for runway 05. Leading the formation there was the “Triple Nickel Flagship”, so it was the first one on getting in the “555th FS loop”, so called Charlie Area, after being taxied along parallel taxiway of the “05”. For the occasion, the Flagship have been flown by Lt. Col. Robert P. Winkler, 555th Fighter Squadron Commander, who ideally has leaded home the expedition. After his Fighting Falcon had taxied, all remaining jets, the third of them was the 31st Operation Group “Flagship”, took few minutes to get their own parking areas so being over the “Zaragoza deployment”.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Renzo Del Bianco
