Fini Flight of Lieutenant Colonel Kevin S. Anderson

The FINI FLIGHT of Lieutenant Colonel Kevin S. Anderson has been taken place at Aviano AB Tuesday June 6, 2023, after two intense and demanding years as 510th Fighter Squadron Commander, flying the “AV” tail coded, serial 88-0443, F-16CM “Viper”.
Once the F-16CM had landed and taxied at the parking area in the “Buzzards” loop of Aviano Air Base, Lt. Col. Anderson was welcomed by Airmen, Familiars and Friends.

Some members of Aviano AB Aviation Friends Group also had the pleasure to attend the event and were able to salute Lieutenant Colonel Anderson, as well as, to thank him of the friendship always shown to the A.A.F.G. over these two years.
The Fini Flight event is the last flight of a commander before relinquishing the command to the new one. It’s a longstanding tradition in the Air Force and it represents one peculiar way to recognize the very best amongst the Air Force’s ranks. From Vietnam War years there are examples, mainly pictures, of Fini Fligth to celebrate the achievement of one hundred missions completed, which marks the end of the duty in the combatant theater.

A very special thanks to Lieutenant Colonel Kevin S. Anderson for granting the presence of the AAFG members and to Mrs. Roberta De Piante Vicin, 510th FS/UPC, to make possible this report.
