510th Fighter Squadron Change of Command - 2023 - Cambio di Comando del 510th Fighter Squadron
The 510th Fighter Squadron Change of Command Ceremony took place Thursday morning 25 May 2023 at Hangar 1 of the Aeronautica Militare Airport of Aviano, Italy, home base of the 31st Fighter Wing, the only permanently assigned U.S. Air Forces in Europe & Air Forces Africa fighter aircraft wing in NATO’s Southern Region.
The Lieutenant Colonel Kevin S. Anderson relinquished command to the Presiding Officer Colonel Kevin M. Crofton, 31st Operations Group Commander, who assigned the Command of the 510th Fighter Squadron “Buzzards” to Lieutenant Colonel Leo M. Moore IV.
The Change of Command Ceremony had the following sequence of Events :

Prior of this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Leo M. Moore IV served as Director of Operations, 35th Fighter Squadron “Pantons", 8th Operations Group, 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea. Lt. Col. Moore was responsible for the daily mission execution of the thirty-five pilots, operating twenty-two aircraft, ensuring the Pantons remain ”First to Fight”, leading the historic 8th Fighter Wing’s mission to “Take the Fight North!”. Lt. Col. Moore earned his commission in 2007 through Basic Officer Training School, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. He attended Joint Specialized Undergraduate Navigator Training at NAS Pensacola, Florida. His first operational assignment was at RAF Lakenheath, 48th Fighter Wing. After that he earned his pilot wings at Columbus AFB, Mississippi, in 2013, and first operational F-16 assignment was at Homestead AFB, Florida, where he deployed in support of Operations Freedom’s Sentinel and Inherent Resolve. From 2018-2020 he served as Chief of Scheduling, 310th Fighter Squadron, and F-16 Division Chief and Evaluator Pilot, 56th Operations Group Standardization and Evaluation. Prior to his current assignment at Aviano AB, Lt. Col. Moore completed Intermediate Developmental Education as Combat Air Force Fellow, and subsenquently served as Branch Chief, Advanced Air-to-Ground Weapons Requirements, Advanced Programs Division, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint-Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
Lt. Col. Moore is Senior Pilot with 1605 flight hours. He has flown F-16 Blk 25/30/40/42/50/52, F-15D/E, T-38C, T-39G/N, T-1A, T-6A

La Cerimonia di Cambio di Comando del 510th Fighter Squadron ha avuto luogo giovedì mattina 25 Maggio 2023 presso l’Hangar 1 dell’Aeroporto Pagliano e Gori dell’Aeronautica Militare ad Aviano, Italia, sede del 31st Fighter Wing, il solo Wing di caccia-bombardieri della U.S. Air Forces in Europe & Air Forces Africa assegnato alla Regione Sud della NATO.
Il Tenente Colonnello Kevin S. Anderson ha restituito il comando all’ufficiale che ha presieduto la Cerimonia, il Colonnello Kevin M. Crofton, Comandante del 31st Operations Group , il quale ha consegnato il Comando del 510th Fighter Squadron al Tenente Colonnello Leo M. Moore IV.

Prima di questo incarico, il Tenente Colonnello Leo M. Moore IV è stato Direttore delle Operazioni, 35th Fighter Squadron “Pantons”, 8th Operations Group, 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan AB, Republica di Corea. Il Ten. Col. Moore era responsabile della esecuzione giornaliera della missione di 35 piloti, operanti su 22 velivoli F-16, in modo da assicurare i “Pantons” rimanessero “First to Fight”, nella guida della storica missione assegnata al 8th Fighter Wing “Take the Fight North”. Il Ten. Col. Moore ha guadagnato nel 2007 la propria “commission” alla Scuola di Addestramento Basico Ufficiali a Maxwell AFB, Alabama. Ha poi svolto l’Addestramento Comune di Specializzazione alla Navigazione presso la NAS Pensacola, Florida. La prima assegnazione in qualità di navigatore è stata al 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, Regno Unito. Ha successivamente conseguito il brevetto di pilota militare nel 2013 alla Columbus AFB, Mississippi, e la prima assegnazione operativa su F-16 alla Homestead AFB, Florida, dove ha rischierato in numerose operazioni, tra cui Freedom’s Sentinel e Inherent Resolve. Dal 2018 al 2020 ha prestato servizio come Capo Programmazione, 310th Fighter Squadron, e Capo Divisione e Pilota Valutatore di F-16, 56th Operations Group Stadardization and Evaluation. Il Ten. Col. Moore ha completato l’Intermediate Developmental Education come Combat Air Force Fellow, e successivamente servito come Capo del Ramo, Advanced Air-to-Ground Weapons Requirements, Divisione Programmi Avanzati, Quartier Generale Air Combat Command, Joint-Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
