          Il 5° Reggimento Aviazione dell’Esercito “RIGEL” compie 40 anni! (e non li dimostra) 

In occasione di tale ricorrenza, presso l’ Aeroporto Militare “F.Baracca” di Casarsa della Delizia (PN), sede del 5° Reggimento Aviazione dell’Esercito “RIGEL”, si e’ svolta la celebrazione dell’ Anniversario dei quarant’anni di costituzione dell’unità, con una festa che ha coinvolto l’ ANAE (Associazione Nazionale Aviazione dell’Esercito) sezione “RIGEL”, con i suoi soci e familiari e tutti gli ex appartenenti del reparto. Per l’ occasione sono stati esposti sul piazzale della zona operativa le varie attrezzature ed armamenti in dotazione al reparto ed una mostra statica dei velivoli in carico al reggimento. All’interno di un hangar una mostra fotografica ripercorreva la storia del 5° “RIGEL”, attraverso immagini intense delle varie missioni compiute in diversi paesi del mondo, mostra in cui anche l’ AAFG ha contribuito alla realizzazione. Non potevano mancare due “chicche”, alle quali oramai al “Rigel” siamo abituati a vedere. Due “Specials Colors” impersonati dai mitici AB.205, che si sono prestati a vestire uno la livrea che racconta la gloriosa storia dei 40 ANNI del “RIGEL” ed uno per  i 50 ANNI di servizio dell’AB.205. Opere che il M.llo Zanot con la complicità di un manipolo di valorosi colleghi hanno svolto con passione per lasciare un segno tangibile nel tempo.  La cerimonia si è svolta all’interno dell’ hangar del 49° Gruppo Sqd. “Capricorno”, alla presenza di autorita’ civili e militari, tra i quali il Comandante del Reggimento Col. Stefano Angioni, il vice presidente della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia Sergio Bolzonello, il presidente della sezione “Rigel” dell’ ANAE, Gen. B. Maurizio De Stefani ed i Sindaci della Città di Casarsa della Delizia Dott.ssa Lavinia Clarotto e del comune di Zoppola Dott.ssa Francesca Papais. Non poteva mancare la presenza dello stendardo di combattimento  al cui arrivo è stato salutato dal picchetto armato durante l’ esecuzione del nostro Inno Nazionale. 
Di seguito un’ approfondimento e cenni storici del Reparto.         
  

5° Reggimento Aviazione dell'Esercito “RIGEL” 

Il 1976 è l’anno in cui l’Esercito Italiano subisce una profonda ristrutturazione che, nel caso specifico dell’Aviazione Leggera dell’Esercito, mira ad un criterio di accentramento basato sulla costituzione di reparti di volo autonomi. Nasce così il 1° Gennaio del 1976 presso l’Aeroporto “F. Baracca” a Casarsa della Delizia in provincia di Pordenone, il 5° Raggruppamento Aviazione Leggera dell’Esercito “Rigel” dalla fusione di due reparti preesistenti - il V° R.E.U.G. (Reparto Elicotteri ad Uso Generale) basato a Casarsa e il V° R.A.L. (Reparto Aerei Leggeri) con sede a S. Giacomo di Veglia – Vittorio Veneto (TV). Il V° R.A.L., equipaggiato con velivoli Cessna L-19 e AB.206, assume la denominazione di 25° Gruppo Squadroni ALE “Cigno” mentre il V° R.E.U.G., che ha in linea gli AB.204B e AB.205, prende il nome di 55° Gruppo Squadroni EM (Elicotteri Multiruolo) “Dragone”.Il 30 Novembre 1985 nell’ambito del riordinamento e potenziamento dell’ALE del 5° Corpo d’Armata, vengono attuate le soppressioni dei seguenti reparti:
 
 
- 47° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Levrieri” della Divisione “Folgore” basato a Treviso;
- 48° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Pavone” della Divisione “Mantova” basato a Campoformido;
- 251° Squadrone AL del 25° “Cigno”;
- 492° Squadrone ERI del 49° “Capricorno”;
- 398° Squadrone AL, 598° Squadrone EM e Squadrone Manutenzione Velivoli del 13° “GRACO”.
 
 
Il 25° Gruppo Squadroni ALE “Cigno” cambia denominazione in 25° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Cigno” e viene trasferito a Pasian di Prato sull’Aeroporto di Udine/Campoformido mentre il 425° Squadrone rimane sulla base di S. Giacomo di Veglia.Il 49° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Capricorno”, erede del RAL “Ariete” e da sempre basato a Casarsa, passa alle dipendenze del 5° “Rigel” in attesa della trasformazione in Gruppo Squadroni Elicotteri d’Attacco. Il Raggruppamento del “Rigel” assumeva quindi il seguente ordinamento:
 
 
- Comando di Raggruppamento,
- Squadrone Comando e Servizi,
- 49° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Capricorno”,
- 55° Gruppo Squadroni EM “Dragone” sulla sede di Casarsa,
- 25° Gruppo Squadroni ERI “Cigno” sulle sedi di Campoformido e San Giacomo di Veglia.
 
 
 
 Il 1992 vede ulteriori variazioni organiche in seno al 5° “Rigel” che perde il suo Gruppo più prestigioso. Il 1° Giugno lascia Casarsa, per trasferirsi sulla base di Padova, il 55° Gruppo Squadroni ALE “Dragone” e i suoi AB.205 sono ridistribuiti fra le basi di Campoformido e Padova. Alla stessa data cambia anche la denominazione del 49° Gruppo che lascia la dicitura ERI per assumere quella di EA (Elicotteri d'Attacco) e quella del 25° “Cigno” che abbandona quella ERI per quella ALE segno della connotazione mista della sua linea di volo. Il 5 Luglio 1996 il “Rigel” lascia Casarsa alla volta del campo udinese, abbandonando il dipendente 49° “Capricorno” che viene assorbito dal neo costituito 7° Reggimento AVES “Vega” e assumendo, quindi, una struttura organica mono gruppo sul solo 25° “Cigno”. Il 1° Settembre 1998 il “Rigel”, passato dal 1° Ottobre 1997 alle dipendenze del Comando Aviazione dell'Esercito, è trasferito dalla base di Campoformido a quella romagnola di Rimini-Miramare assumendo una struttura organica su tre Gruppi di volo: il 25° “Cigno”, il 48° “Pavone” (proveniente dalla base di Belluno) e il 53° “Cassiopea” (proveniente da Milano-Bresso). La permanenza del “Rigel” in terra di romagna è breve. Il 23 Ottobre del 1998 torna in Friuli nella sua base storica di Casarsa assumendo una fisionomia organica basata su tre Gruppi: il 49° Gr. Sqd. “Capricorno” su base AH.129C/D “Mangusta”, il 27° Gr. Sqd. “Mercurio” su base UH.205 (proveniente dall'aeroporto toscano di Firenze-Peretola) e il Gruppo Squadroni di Sostegno “Lupo”, nuova entità, quest'ultima, che ha il compito di sostenere logisticamente e tecnicamente l'operatività dei due gruppi di volo. Dal 1 Maggio del 2000 è posto alle dipendenze, insieme al 7° Rgt. AVES “Vega” di Rimini,  della  Brigata Aeromobile “Friuli” con sede a Bologna, e insieme costituiscono la componente aeromeccanizzata con compiti di elitrasporto tattico-logistico e di supporto al combattimento.
 
  
 

Quarant’anni: dalla nascita... par no dismenteà…

Il nostro “Rigel” compie quarant’anni: nostro, perché tutti indistintamente sono stati  protagonisti con il loro impegno e sacrificio, a scrivere le pagine di storia del Reggimento arrivando a questo importante traguardo da quel lontano 1 gennaio 1976 data in cui fu costituito. “IL MIO SPIRT ATÔR TI SVOLE” (Il mio spirito aleggia intorno a te)  esprime, con una frase tratta dalla celebre villotta friulana “stelutis alpinis” del poeta Arturo Zardini, da parte del personale del Reggimento, la passione per il volo e il legame con la terra che  ospita da tanto tempo un’unità di volo dell’Esercito Italiano.“QUARANT’ANNI DALLA NASCITA… PAR NO DISMENTEA’…” (per non dimenticare) questa è la frase coniugata anche in lingua Friulana per l’anniversario come segno tangibile della continuità con il motto del reparto e... per non dimenticare il distruttivo sisma che sconvolse la terra del Friuli, lasciando indelebile il ricordo, quando il nostro neonato “Rigel” rispose con i propri equipaggi, colpito anche nei propri affetti ed averi dalla tragedia, portando in volo i mezzi fin dalle prime ore del mattino successivo del fatidico 6 maggio 1976.  Nelle due settimane successive al dramma saranno decine le missioni volate dagli elicotteri dell’allora Raggruppamento, per ogni dove e compito necessario. Per quindici giorni è un carosello di decolli, atterraggi, rifornimenti a tempo di record, riparazioni e ispezioni ai mezzi aerei effettuate giorno e notte a ritmo serrato.Il grandissimo lavoro svolto dagli equipaggi ed elicotteri del Raggruppamento, che si concluse a favore dell’ “Emergenza Friuli” alla fine del 1979, si può riassumere in:
 
 
- 1.088 missioni di volo;
- 1.300 ore di volo;
- 2.107 feriti trasportati;
- 590 soccorritori trasportati;
- 700.000 Kg. di materiale trasportato tra cui oltre 40 prefabbricati ad uso abitativo e roulottes al gancio baricentrico.
 
 
Questo enorme e silente lavoro fu onorato il 10 maggio del 1978 in occasione della cerimonia svoltasi  sull’aeroporto di Casarsa  per celebrare il 27° Anniversario della fondazione dell’Aviazione Leggera dell’Esercito. La cerimonia che vide la presenza delle Bandiere di Guerra del 19° Gr. Sq. Cavalleggeri “Guide”, 132° Gr. Art. Camp. “Rovereto” e 108° Gr. Art. Camp. “Cosseria”, il Gen. C.A. Adriano GUERRIERI, Com.te del 5° C.A. appuntò la   Medaglia d’Argento al Valor dell’Esercito concessa al 5° Raggruppamento ALE “Rigel” e consegnò la Medaglia di Bronzo al Valor dell’Esercito al 49° Gr. Sqd. ERI “Capricorno”, Madrina fu la Signora Silvia Bidinost in Pastorin.Le motivazioni si riassunsero per le operazioni di soccorso durante il terremoto, per l’opera svolta a favore delle popolazioni friulane colpite dal sisma nel corso del quale, con azione instancabile, gli equipaggi impegnati al limite della resistenza fisica e della sicurezza operativa, fornirono un contributo determinante nel salvataggio dei feriti e nel rifornimento di materiali essenziali. Il 5° “Rigel” con le sue missioni svolse un decisivo e particolare contributo alla ricostruzione dei borghi montani di: Plan de Coces e Cabia nel Comune di Arta Terme , Costamolino vicino Chiusaforte, dei Comuni di Moggio Udinese e Gemona in provincia di Udine e del Comune di Erto e Casso in provincia di Pordenone.

The 5° Reggimento Aviazione dell’Esercito “RIGEL” turns 40! (And it does not look it) 

On the occasion of this anniversary, at the 'Military Airport "F.Baracca" Casarsa della Delizia (PN), headquarters of the 5° Reggimento Aviazione dell' Esercito "RIGEL", and it' was the celebration of the 'Anniversary of forty years unit constitution, with a party that involved the 'ANAE (National Association of Army Aviation) "RIGEL" section, with its partners and family members and all former members of the department. For the 'occasion were displayed on the forecourt of the operational area the various equipment and weapons supplied to the department and a static display of aircraft load the regiment. Inside a hangar a photo exhibition retracing the history of the 5th "RIGEL" through intense images of the various missions carried out in different countries of the world, shows that even the 'AAFG has contributed to. No one could miss two "goodies", which by now to "Rigel" we usually see. Two "Specials Colors" personified by the mythical AB.205, which are supplied to dress up one livery that tells the glorious history of 40 years of "RIGEL" and one for 50 YEARS dell'AB.205 service. Works that M.llo Zanot with the complicity of a handful of brave colleagues have played with passion to leave a tangible mark in time. The ceremony took place within the 'hangar of the 49° Sq. Group. "Capricorn", the presence of authority civilian and military, including the Commander of the Regiment Col. Stefano Angioni, the Vice President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Sergio Bolzonello, the president of "Rigel" section ANAE Gen. B . Maurizio De Stefani and the Mayors of the City of Casarsa della Delizia Dr. Lavinia Clarotto and the municipality of Zoppola Dr. Francesca Papais. He could not miss the presence of the fighting banner whose arrival was greeted by armed guard during the 'execution of our National Anthem.
Below is an 'in-depth and history of the Department.

5° Army Aviation Regiment "RIGEL" 

The 1976 is the year in which the Italian Army undergoes a major restructuring that, in the specific case of Army Light Aviation, aims for a centralised policy based on the Constitution of autonomous flight departments. Thus was born on 1 January 1976 at the airport "f. Baracca" in Casarsa della Delizia in the province of Pordenone, the 5th army light aviation Grouping "Rigel" from the merger of two existing departments-the V° R.E.U.G. (Dept general purpose Helicopters) based at Casarsa and the V° R.A.L. (light aircraft) based in s. Giacomo di Veglia-Vittorio Veneto (TV).The V° R.A.L. Cessna L-19 aircraft, and AB. 206, renamed the 25° Gruppo Squadroni ALE "Swan" while the V° R.E.U.G., which has online AB. 204B and AB 205, called 55° Gruppo Squadroni EM (Helicopters) "Dragon."On 30 November 1985 under the reorganization and upgrading of the wings of the 5th Corps, deletions are carried out of the following departments:
 
 
-47° group Squadrons ERI  "Greyhounds" of the Folgore Division based in Treviso;
-48° group Squadrons ERI  "Peacock" of the "Mantova" Division based in Campoformido;
-251 squadron AL of the 25° "Swan";
-492 Squadron ERI of the 49° "Capricorn";
-398 Squadron AL, 598 Squadron EM  and aircraft maintenance Squadron, of the 13° "GRACO".
 
 
The 25° Gruppo Squadroni ALE "Swan" changed its name to 25° group Squadrons were "Swan" and is transferred in Pasian di Prato Udine/Campoformido airport while the 425 Squadron remains on the basis of s. Giacomo di Veglia.The 49° group Squadrons were "Capricorn", heir of the RAL "RAM" and always based in Casarsa, passes under the authority of V° "Rigel" awaiting transformation into Group Squadrons attack helicopters. The grouping of "Rigel" assumed then the following ordering:

- 55° Gruppo Squadroni EM "Dragon" on the seat of Casarsa,
- 25° Group Squadrons ERI "Swan on the seats of Campoformido and San Giacomo di Veglia.
 
 
The 1992 sees more organic variations within the 5° "Rigel" that loses the most prestigious Group. On 1 St June leaves Casarsa, moved on the basis of Padua, the 55° "Dragon" Group Squadron and his AB. 205 shall be redistributed between the bases of Campoformido and Padua. On the same date also changes the name of 49° group that leaves the words ERI were to assume that of EA (assault helicopter) and 25° "Swan" that abandons that of ERI for the ALE sign of the mixed in its connotation flight line. On 5 July 1996 the "Rigel" leave Casarsa to Udine field at a time, leaving the 49 "Capricorn" that is absorbed by the newly formed 7° Reggimento AVES "Vega" and assuming, then, an organic structure only mono Group on the 25° “Swan”. On 1 September 1998 the "Rigel", passed by October 1 1997 employed by the Army aviation Command, is transferred from the base of Campoformido in the Romagna in Rimini-Miramare assuming an organic structure on three flying groups: 25° "Swan", the 48° "Peacock" (coming from Belluno) and 53° "Cassiopeia" (coming from Milano-Bresso). The permanence of "Rigel" in the land of romagna is short. On 23 October 1998 back in Friuli in its historical basis of Casarsa assuming an organic appearance based on three groups: 49 SQN Sqd. "Capricorn" AH.129C/D based on “Mongoose", 27 SQN Sqd. "Mercury" based on UH 205 (coming from the airport Peretola Tuscan) and supporting Squadrons "Wolf", a new entity, the latter, which is tasked to support logistically and technically the operation of two flying groups. From 1 may of 2000 is employed, together with 7° Rgt. AVES "Vega" in Rimini, the Brigade "Friuli" Aircraft based in Bologna, and together constitute the aeromeccanizzata component responsible for logistical and tactical-combat support helicopter.

  Forty years: from birth ... par no dismenteà ... 

Our "Rigel" celebrates forty years: ours, because all and sundry were protagonists with their commitment and sacrifice, to write the history of the regiment arriving in this milestone from that distant date January 1, 1976 was formed."IL MIO SPIRT ATÔR TI SVOLE (my spirit hovers around you) expresses, with a phrase from the famous poet's stelutis "alpinis" villotta Friulian Arturo Zardini, from the staff of the Regiment, the passion for flying and the connection with the land that has long been an Italian army flying units."FORTY YEARS AFTER THE BIRTH ... PAR NO DISMENTEA ... " (not to forget) this is the conjugate in the Friulian language phrase for the anniversary as a tangible sign of continuity with the motto of the Department and ... not to forget the destructive earthquake that shook the Earth, leaving indelible memories, when our infant "Rigel" replied with their own crews, also impressed in their affections and possessions from the tragedy, bringing in flight the means from the early hours of the next morning of the fateful May 6, 1976. Within two weeks after the tragedy will be dozens of missions flown by helicopters of the grouping, for every where and necessary task. For fifteen days is a carousel of takeoffs, landings, supplies in record time, repairs and aircraft inspections carried out day and night to pace.The great work done by crews and helicopters of the grouping, which ended in favour of "emergency Friuli" at the end of 1979, can be summarized in: 
 
-1.088 flight missions;
-1.300 hours of flight.
-2.107 wounded transported;
-590 rescuers transported;
-700.000 Kg of material including over 40 portacabin dayrooms and caravans to barycentric hook. 
 
This huge and silent work was honoured on 10 May 1978 at the ceremony held on the airport of Casarsa to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the founding of the light aviation of the army. The ceremony saw the presence of war flags of 19 SQN Sq. Cavalleggeri "Guide", 132 SQN Art. Camp. "Rovereto" and 108 SQN Art. Camp. "Cosseria", Gen. C.a. Adriano Guerrieri, comm.  of 5° C.A., pinned a silver medal at the Valor of the army granted to 5° Grouping ALE "Rigel" and handed the bronze medal army Valour at 49 SQN Sqd. ERI "Capricorn", godmother was Mrs. Silvia Bidinost in Pastorin.The reasons you had for rescue operations during the earthquake, for the work done in favour of populations affected by the earthquake in which Friulani (from Friuli), with untiring action, crews committed to the limits of physical endurance and operational safety, provided a crucial contribution in rescuing the wounded and in the supply of essential materials.  The 5° "Rigel" with its missions played a decisive and outstanding contribution to the reconstruction of the mountain villages of: Plan de Coces and Cabia in the municipality of Arta Terme, Chiusaforte, near the municipalities of Moggio Udinese Costamolino and Gemona in Italy and the municipality of Erto e Casso in the province of Pordenone.
