31st Operations Support Squadron Change of Command - 23 June 2023 - Aviano Air Base , Italy
The Change of Command Ceremony took place as follows:

The 31st Operations Support Squadron Change of Command Ceremony took place Friday morning 23 June 2023 at Hangar 1 of the Aeronautica Militare Airport of Aviano “Pagliano e Gori”, Italy, home base of the 31st Fighter Wing, the only permanently assigned U.S. Air Forces in Europe & Air Forces Africa fighter aircraft wing in NATO’s Southern Region.
The Lieutenant Colonel Corydon A. Jerch relinquished command to the Presiding Officer Colonel William D. Lutmer, 31st Operations Group Commander, who assigned the Command of the 31st Operations Support Squadron to Lieutenant Colonel Jason Z. Markzon.
Lieutenant Colonel Jason “Flack” Markzon is now the current Commander, 31st Operations Support Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy. Prior of this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Jason “Flack” Markzon attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, Texas, in 2009 and was selected to remain at Laughlin as an Instructor Pilot at the 87th Flying Training Squadron. He completed his initial fighter training in the F-16 at Luke AFB, Arizona, and then was assigned to operational squadrons in both the Republic of Korea and Japan. Lt Col Markzon has served as an F-16 Mission Commander, Instructor Pilot and Flight Examiner, Maintenance Operations Flight Commander and was a member of the 2019-2021 USAF “Thunderbirds” Air Demonstration Squadron. Lt Col Markzon is a Senior Pilot with over 2,400 hours in the F-16, T-38, T-6 and has served in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Her latest assignment was the Director of Operations at the 555th Fighter Squadron.

La Cerimonia di Cambio di Comando del 31st Squadrone di Supporto alle Operazioni (OSS), ha avuto luogo Venerdi’ mattina 23 Giugno 2023 presso l’Hangar 1 dell’Aeroporto “Pagliano e Gori” dell’Aeronautica Militare ad Aviano, Italia, sede del 31st Stormo da Combattimento (Fighter Wing), il solo Stormo (Wing) di caccia-bombardieri della U.S. Air Forces in Europe & Air Forces Africa assegnato alla Regione Sud della NATO.
Il Tenente Colonnello Corydon A. Jerch ha restituito il comando all’ufficiale che ha presieduto la Cerimonia, il Colonnello William D. Lutmer,, Comandante del 31st Gruppo Operazioni (OG) , il quale ha consegnato il Comando del 31st Squadrone di Supporto alle Operazioni (OSS) al Tenente Colonnello Jason Z. Markzon.
Tenente Il colonnello Jason "Flack" Markzon è ora l'attuale comandante, 31st Squadrone di Supporto alle Operazioni (OSS), Aviano Air Base, Italia. Prima di questo incarico, il Tenente Colonnello Jason "Flack" Markzon ha partecipato Formazione per piloti Universitari presso Laughlin AFB, Texas, nel 2009 ed è stato selezionato rimanere a Laughlin come pilota istruttore presso l'87th Squadrone da addestramento (FTS). Egli ha completato il suo addestramento iniziale da caccia nell'F-16 a Luke AFB, Arizona, e poi fu assegnato agli squadroni operativi sia nella Repubblica di Corea che nella Giappone. Il Tenente Colonnello Markzon ha servito come comandante di missione F-16, pilota istruttore ed Esaminatore di Volo, Comandante Manutenzione Operazioni di Volo ed è stato membro del 2019-2021 USAF "Thunderbirds" Squadrone Dimostrativo dell’ Aria. Lt Col Markzon è un pilota senior con oltre 2.400 ore su F-16, T-38, T-6 e ha prestato servizio a supporto dell'operazione INHERENT RESOLVE. Il suo ultimo incarico è stato il Direttore delle operazioni presso il 555th Squadrone da Combattimento(FS).
